Build pricing and trade-in tools for a forklift shop in Codex

A forklift dealer with no coding background used Codex, wired to his Shopify store, CRM and accounting, to add service plan pricing, a leasing calculator and a photo-based trade-in estimate.

What they did

A Redditor who runs Meta ads for a forklift dealer set the client up in Codex the way they run their own business. The Codex project has the business context written in, access to the Shopify store and the supplier data behind the products, the CRM for incoming enquiries, and the accounting tool e-conomic for invoices. Starting in June, the owner used it to ask about revenue and leads, then to build on the shop himself, working in a draft theme in the evenings and publishing when happy. He built a five-year service agreement on each forklift whose price changes with yearly usage hours, a monthly leasing calculator on machines over 49,000 DKK, and a trade-in tool where a customer sends photos of the truck, ID plate and hour meter and gets an estimate. The poster helped with the API side of the trade-in tool.

How it went

By August the owner was working on the shop until 1am. Picking a service agreement now creates a draft contract in the CRM, where he adds the serial number and sends it. He also made his own filter icons and fixed a menu that covered the financing window. He told the poster the setup does work he would otherwise need several employees for. No sales or revenue figures are given.

Worth knowing

This is the consultant's account of a client, not the owner's own post, and the poster sells this kind of setup. The useful pattern is the owner's domain knowledge: asking for an hour meter photo came from him, not the developer.

With Codex· 7 parts to fill in

You have access to my [store platform] store, [supplier data], my [CRM] and my [accounting tool]. Read [business context file] first. Add a [feature, such as a leasing calculator or a service plan price that changes with usage] to [product pages that qualify]. Build it in a draft theme only, then show me a preview link and list every file and setting you changed. If it touches the CRM, create test records only. Stop and wait for my approval before anything goes live.

Square brackets are the parts to fill in. The prompt is ours; the story is theirs.
