What they did
u/ElementZoom asked Claude to migrate their existing YAML Home Assistant dashboards to HTML. The new pages animate and change colour with entity state and temperature, show an energy page fed by three smart plugs, switch camera streams between a light and a 2K stream with playback and two-way audio, and show synced song lyrics when available. The poster used Claude Pro in chat and deliberately did not connect it to Home Assistant over security concerns, so the work involved pasting each new HTML file in and filling in a long-lived API token by hand. In a separate thread, u/iamtherufus designed a tablet dashboard in Figma and worked with Claude to tie the HTML, CSS and JavaScript to the Home Assistant backend, covering lights, climate, a robot vacuum, cameras and an alarm.
How it went
The first poster finished the migration in one weekend and posted a video of the result. The second said the dashboard works with all their devices, with a few pages still to build, and that it is hosted from Home Assistant's local folder. Neither gives numbers beyond that.
Worth knowing
The HTML is hard-coded to each person's entities, so sharing the files is of little use; commenters suggested asking for the method instead. Skipping a direct connection means manual copy and paste and handling an API token yourself; commenters pointed to Home Assistant MCP servers and add-ons that let Claude work on the instance directly.
