What they did
The poster, u/The_Pikl, wanted something like a commercial smart calendar for the kitchen counter, using a child's old iPad. Starting on October 23 with a brainstorm prompt about a synced family calendar with a chore chart and grocery list, Grok built an HTML app in landscape with tabs. Grok Bot then had the poster log into a free Cloudflare account and set up hosting itself, returning a link that opens full screen in Safari. Grok Bot is connected to the poster's email and calendar: it mirrors calendar events onto the dashboard and surfaces notices it finds in email, such as boil-water alerts, package deliveries and school events. It pushes tweaks the poster asks for and checks Cloudflare analytics weekly for problems.
How it went
The dashboard sits on the kitchen counter and the poster says the whole family uses it every day. Tabs cover the calendar, live weather and sports, a kids playroom with chores that earn stars and movie nights, and a game-update notice. The poster says the kids now get ready for school faster. Building the app used up the week's Grok and Grok Bot allowance; upkeep and email handling since then use far less.
Worth knowing
Hosting on Cloudflare was free. The poster set rules on their work email to forward certain messages so they reach the personal inbox, where Grok Bot adds them to the calendar. Camera and smart-home integration is not done yet. Another commenter reported a working prototype after two messages to Grok Bot.
